The New Literacies and Global Learning Program has provided me with the skills and tools to be a true teacher of the 21st Century. Over the past two years I have transformed not only in my teaching but personally too. In my Leadership coursework, I not only focused on how to support my students in being leaders but also how I can become a leader myself. Through this course, I gained the confidence to be a leader. I learned what it means to be a leader, which is so much more than just a positional status. As I look ahead for the upcoming school year, I recently found out that my principal nominated me to be one of the four Teacher Leader Corps for our school. I will attend professional development from Discovery Education on setting up learning labs in the classroom based on the Inquiry model and then have professional development for my school. This is a big step for me in showing my "true leadership" qualities.
